Nancy van der Ven came out victorious at the Women MX of Nations event at Gdansk in Poland. The Yamaha rider was in perfect form, winning both heats. She also assisted team Netherlands to claim top honours in the country classification,
Atrocious weather conditions on Saturday turned the track into a muddy mess. ” Despite the mud, I went well, and posted the quickest time. In fact, I always do well in muddy conditions,” Van der Ven said. The rest of Saturday’s scheduled events were cancelled to preserve the track.
Nancy again posted the fastest time during warm op on Sunday. She underlined her dominance by getting away in front. “I almost immediately got a 12 second gap. From then on I just rode my own race, and I was clearly the fastest ont he track.” Nancy eventually won by 40 seconds.
In the second heat, Nancy was in the top five off the start. ” I had a yo-yo race with Fontanesi. I would close the gap, and she would open it up again. In the end I managed to pass her and win that race as well.”
