Nancy van de Ven finished second in the Women of Nations in Arco di Trento, Italy. Nancy was riding together with Britt van der Werff for Team Holland. Nancy did a great job for the team by finishing in second position in the individual classification.
Nancy had a nice rhythm on the track in the first free practice session on Saturday. She had a good feeling on the track and her speed was there as well. She managed to set the second fastest time which gave her a lot of confidence going into the qualifying heat. Unfortunately she had misfortune in the qualifying heat because straight after the start she got a mechanical problem and was forced to retire from the race.
In the first moto on Sunday she took a good start and came out of the first corner in second position. She started to put the pressure on Francesca Nocera who was leading the race. Unfortunately she was passed by Kiara Fontanesi and dropped back to third position. Nancy kept the two leaders in her sights and gave everything she had to pass Nocera for second position because she saw that Fontanesi had taken over the lead. She did everything she could to pass the Italian but unfortunately she wasn’t able to make a pass stick and had to be satisfied with third position.
She was motivated to do better in the second moto. She took a good start and started the race in second position. Soon after she took over the lead and tried to make a gap over herself and Francesca Nocera. Nancy was leading the race for four laps but got passed by Kiara Fontanesi and dropped back to second position. Fontanesi managed to make a gap over herself and Nancy and was controlling the race from than on. Nancy lost her rhythm a bit and decided to settle for second position.
Nancy finished second overall in the individual classification and finished in second position in the nations classification as well. This weekend she will participate in the beachrace in Vlissingen.
