Nancy van de Ven best classified women in Red Bull Knock Out

Nancy van de Ven has done a great job at the fourth edition of the Red Bull Knock Out in the Haque, the Netherlands. 70.000 spectators saw that Nancy gave everything she had and finished the race in a strong 57th position.

Nancy was looking forward to the race and was well prepared. Her physical shape was good but the big question mark was if it was enough because she had to ride three races from an hour in one weekend.

On Saturday morning she had to ride in the first qualifying heat. The track was completely flat and this was a disadvantage for Nancy because she was riding aboard a Yamaha YZ-F250 against the bigger MX1 machines. Despite this she managed to take a good start and was riding inside of the top twenty. Things were going well till she collided with another rider in high speed and made a big crash. Luckily she didn’t injured herself and was able to jump back on her bike. Nancy found her rhythm straight away and finished the race in a strong tenth position, which was enough to qualify herself for the semi-final on Sunday.

On Saturday we lost 750 riders in total and the last 750 riders were ready to go in the semi-final. Nancy knew that it would be tough because between the semi-final and the final there was only a break of 45 minutes. Nancy tried to safe her energy in the semi-final but was doing a fine job and finished in 66th position. She qualified herself for the final and was able to start from the first starting row.

The 350 fastest riders over the weekend went out together in the final for a race over one hour. Nancy was determined to make it to the finish. Her riding went well and the first half of the race went fine. After 30 minutes she made a pitstop. Her father and brother took over the bike and were putting the fuel into her machine. Nancy started to become tired but went back on the beach to try to make the best of it. It became more and more difficult but she kept fighting and finished the race in a strong 57th position. With this result she was the best classified women in the Red Bull Knock Out.

Nancy van de Ven:’’It was really difficult. Normally I ride three times 25 minutes on a day, here I had to do three races of one hour in a weekend. In the last thirty minutes I was really tired but I was determined to make it to the finish line’’.
